The Hishi Pattern

The beautiful and functional hishi nawa

Level: Intermediate/Advanced

Class style: Lecture, demo, and hands-on

This rope bondage class dissects the diamond pattern which is referred to as “Hishi Nawa” or “Hishi Shibari”.

The diamond pattern is one of the most beautiful and iconic patterns in the world of Shibari. In addition to its attractive aesthetic, it’s a very useful structural component in many Japanese ties.

We will go over multiple ways of constructing this pattern and we’ll look at different ties where the pattern could be applied.

This is an advanced class. It will be focused on understanding the construction of the pattern. Certain ties will be used as examples to illustrate the use of the diamond pattern, but the intention behind the class will not be to teach step-by-step instructions of how to create each of these ties.
